Substance 3D texturing apps are available for free for Students and Teachers here (non-commercial use, learning purposes. K12 institutions are not included in this offer at this time. Assets are not included in the Higher Education plan. I find it the best thing that has hit the fashion industry for a long time, no waiting for sampling, no unwanted samples ending in landfill, it's the heart of sustainability. Substance 3D is included at no cost in Creative Cloud plans for Higher Education colleges and universities. I have had over 20 years in the clothing industry designing, I have travelled the world visiting mills and factories but I love that now I can speak to mills and factories virtually and by using 3D we can communicate the designs and fabric so much easier even with language barriers. Will 3D become the 'norm' in a fashion designer's tool and overtake illustrator? Will there be separate 3D teams, maybe these will include fashion designers plus CGI / Studio Teams? We are seeing lots of change in Europe which is so exciting.įor me I find it easier to design in 3D now but I know others don't so there needs to be a balance.
